Essential Question: How are living things related within the biosphere?
You will investigate and analyze how living things are related to one another within their population, communities, and ecosystems. To do this, we will focus on these topics:
The abiotic and biotic factors within a community and how they interact.
Factors that affect the growth of a population.
The basic elements used by all living things and how these materials are recycled within an ecosystem.
The movement of energy through an ecosystem.
You will investigate and analyze the impact of human populations on both local and global environments, including:
Historic and future changes in human population growth.
How factors such as climate change and resource use relate to human activities.
Methods for conserving and minimizing destructive human impact on the environment
Note from Nancy - this was shamelessly stolen from this link but I thought I would throw it out there for modifications - I think it covers the objectives we have listed in our spreadsheet and follows the format of the "big guiding question" stuff we were exposed to in PD last year. This unit will encompass chapters 1, 18, 19 and 20 in the bio book (current version, don't know if that changes in the new version?) and chapter 26 in the chem book - biochemical cycles.
